Linen Wrap Top & Self Drafted Culottes

IMG_6698.jpg

Hey everybody! I hope you are enjoying your weekend! I usually don’t post on Saturday or Sunday but I’m really excited about this look and I love the way it came together. You all know I usually gravitate to commercial pattern but neither of these pieces are that! The top is a FREE PDF pattern and the culottes are self-drafted! WHO AM I? LOL! Let’s get into the details!

the details

Pattern Used: For the top is used Peppermint Magazine “Wrap Top” PDF Pattern. This pattern is in collaboration with In The Folds. AND it’s a FREE download. (If you visit this site and decide to download, please consider giving a small donation to help our small businesses and support them during this time.)

FOR THE CULOTTES: These culottes were self-drafted following Course 45 in the Sew IT Academy! We used our basic skirt sloper and drafted these using our own measurements! The fabric I used to make these are a lightweight denim I found at my local Hobby Lobby.

Pattern Description: The Wrap top is a cropped wrap top with three quarter length sleeves. It features a back neck facing and bust darts. Seams are finished with french seams for a beautiful and high end finish. *description from pdf pattern instructions.

Pattern Sewing Level: One a scale of 1-5, this pattern is rated 1.5. If you are comfortable with french seams, you can make this top!

What size did you cut?: This pattern is labeled alphabetical, so I cut G from this pattern and made no adjustments to it. The top fits me pretty perfect so if i make it again, I would go up a size.

Were the instructions easy to follow? They were. The hardest part was remember to put everything WRONG SIDES together. I did get a little tripped up with the back neck facing. I ended up having to up-pick my seam there and re-read the instructions but I finally got it on correctly.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I LOVE the finishings of this pattern. It really takes it up a notch and love that. It’s great if you don’t have a serger too!

Did you make any pattern alterations: No, I didn’t make any alterations or adjustments to the pattern. I did add a small snap along the front opening edge, just for comfort.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I used a Linen from The Fabric Store Online! It’s one of my favorites online stores to shop and their Linens give me heart eyes lol!

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not record a sew along for this top.

Would you sew it again? Yes, I would! It’s a pretty straight forward wrap top, and I know I have others in my pattern stash, but I like the little details on this one, so I would make it again!

Would you recommend it to others? Yes. If you want to work with a great FREE PDF pattern, with great finishings, and instructions this is a good one to try! I love a few others they have too (peppermint magazine) that I’ll be making next!

Well, thats all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Blessings,
