Striped Double Gauze Dress: mccalls 8035

IMG_6459.jpg

Hey everybody! Happy Thursday! I hope you’re doing well and staying positive as we continue to self isolate. I gotta be honest, last weekend I felt like I had to GET OUT! LOL! While I do get out about once/twice a week to make a run to the store for essentials, I needed some alone time. So I masked up, got in the car, went to Joann, waited for an hour and 15 minutes until they opened (six feet apart of course), got in within the first 18 to get inside before its one at a time, and did some quick (and I mean quick) shopping and got back home before they missed me (yeah right, they were calling every 15 minutes LOL)! I did a quick haul of everything I bought and you can watch it here!

Welp…..I totally went off topic there! You are here about this stripe double gauze dress. If you follow me on social, you’re probably tired of seeing this dress (or at least sneak peeks of it anyway) by now so let’s get into the details of it!

the details

Pattern Used: I used McCalls 8035 and made View C on the pattern.

Pattern Description: Wrap front bodice, elastic raised waist, tulip and elastic hem puff sleeves. B: hemline ruffle. C: ankle length, side slit. *description from McCalls website

Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern sewing level is Easy. If you can attach a facing, and create elastic casings you can make this dress.

What size did you cut?: I cut the L for the bust and waist and XL for the hips.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they were. If you have sewing experience, you could probably make this without looking at the instructions.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I really liked View C of this pattern. The other views aren’t really my style. I love the wrap bodice and the sleeves on this dress. I’ve been sewing a lot of pattern with those similar design features like this McCalls 7969 dress I recently made. I have no dislikes about the pattern.

Did you make any pattern alterations: I did bring the slit down about 5”. Other than that and merging the pattern size between L to XL around the hips, no other changes were made.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I purchased the fabric from my local Joann. Here’s a direct link to it! They also have it in solid colors too. I’ve purchased it in red, yellow, blue, and white.

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? Sew along is not posted yet, but I will do one and share it on my Youtube channel, so make sure you’re subscribed.

Would you sew it again? Absolutely! I think I’m gonna use the solid red of the same fabric to sew this exact dress again.

Would you recommend it to others? YES! This is a great easy to sew dress. I’ll get a lot of wear from it during the Spring and Summer months. And switching fabric and styling could take this to Fall!

Well that”s all for post! Thank you so much for stopping by! Until next time….

Blessings,
