Blue & Lime Floral Dress: mccalls 7969
Hey everybody! Happy Wednesday! I hope you all are doing well, and in good spirits! I’ve been doing some sewing lately (YES!!) and I can’t wait to begin sharing the projects! Most of them are comfy dresses. That’s really what I’m into right now! My mood and inspiration is relaxed, comfy, and cute easy to wear dresses. I made a couple loungewear sets that I love a couple weeks ago, and now I’ve moved on to dresses. Dresses with a wrap bodice and full sleeve to be specific! I just love them! Let’s get into the details of the first dress!
the details
Pattern Used: I used McCalls 7969 for this dress and made View A on the pattern. I was a little on the fence about this pattern which is why it took me so long to make it, but I’m really glad I did! It’s great!
Pattern Description: Very loose-fitting, pullover dresses have sleeve variations, neck binding, raised waistline, and narrow hem. B: sleeve and hem ruffles, and purchased trim. C:sleeve and hem ruffles. *description from McCalls website
Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern is rated at Easy! I’d have to agree with that. It doesn’t have any closures which is a plus and the front and back skirt is the same pattern piece. If you can do gathers and attach binding, you can nail this dress.
What size did you cut?: I cut the L and it fits great. No modification to the fit were made.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they are easy to follow. The instructions and the illustrations.
What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I don’t have any dislikes. My favorite things about it are the sleeves. I didn’t know if I’d like the hem of them but I really do! It’s a cute little detail. So if you make this pattern, and your sleeve hem is not even, it’s correct. Don’t panic!
Did you make any pattern alterations: No, I made no alterations or adjustments to the pattern.
Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? My fabric was gifted to me from LaFinch Fabrics. The fabric is 100% Rayon. This print just got me excited for Spring! I think it so cute and it’s really lightweight and drapey! Love it!
Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not record a sew along for this dress.
Would you sew it again? Yes I would. I can see myself making View A again!
Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely!
Thank you so much for stopping by! Until next time…
Blessings!
