Black Cheetah Rayon Dress: vogue 1652
Happy Friday!! It feels so good to have something sewn that I can share! Lol! It seems like months have gone by since I’ve made something (dramatic, I know lol)! Okay, not months but weeks! I am really excited about this Leopard print dress. I bought this Vogue pattern a couple weeks ago and I just loved this dress! I recorded it in a pattern haul and well, let’s just say, some of y’all weren't convinced! Lol! I hope you see what I saw in it! Let’s get into the details!
Pattern Used: For this dress, I used Vogue 1652 and I made View B.
Pattern Description: A, B: Loose-fitting Dress has front and back yoke, collar and length variation, loop and button closure, lined front and back, and gathered sleeve with button cuff. A: Collar and tie end in one. Above mid knee length. B: Stand-up collar and ruffle. *description from Vogue website
Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern sewing level is rated Easy. It’s a pretty simple dress to put together but it does have loops that need to be created and attached, buttonholes, lining, and a cuff. If you are comfortable with creating those, you can nail this dress.
What size did you cut?: I cut the size 16. The only adjustment I made was to the sleeve. I cut the 16 for the sleeve cap and then merged over the 18 for the sleeve seam.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were! I had no issues following the instructions or the illustrations.
What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I love the style of this dress. The ruffle, sleeve, yoke, and collar won me over! I have no dislikes about the pattern. One thing I would like to do again to the dress, is to add another loop along the shoulder seam. You can see from my close ups that its a gap there with just the two.
Did you make any pattern alterations: No I made no adjustments to the pattern. I was short on fabric so I cut only two ruffles instead of three like the pattern says.
Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I purchased this fabric from my local Joann. Here’s is the direct link to it!
Did you record a sew along for this pattern? I did! I recorded this sew along for my newsletter! It goes out tomorrow, February 27, 2020! So if you’re loving this dress, and would like to see it all come together, click here to subscribe to my Sewing Scoop! It’s Free and I send one email a month!
Would you sew it again? YES! I love this dress! It’s loose fitting so I added a belt for some shaping. The belt is from Target.
Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely!
Well thats all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog! Until next time……
Blessings,
