Olive Raglan Sleeve Jacket: simplicity 8955

IMG_4575.jpg

Happy Wednesday! It feels so good to be back on the blog! I didn’t realize how long it was since my last post until I went out to take pics in this jacket and it felt like my first time in front of the camera! LOL! I was a whole mess! I have truly missed getting on here sharing, and it feels GREAT to be back, so let’s get right into it!

This jacket (and other upcoming makes) are exactly how I wanted to start off my year of sewing! I wanted to begin creating those special, slow sewn, adding extra details, garments that I would get years of wear from and make me proud of my work! Now, don’t get me wrong, I am all for a quick and easy sew, but I also know that there is beauty, and growth in those time consuming projects, or just adding extra to simple projects!

Pattern Used: For this jacket I used Simplicity 8955. I made View A on the pattern with View B/C sleeves.

Pattern Description: Misses' and Women's Raglan Sleeve Unlined Jackets *description from Simplicity website.

Pattern Sewing Level: This jacket is unlined, with facing, darts, pockets, buttonholes, and buttons. If you are confident with those techniques, you can nail this jacket.

What size did you cut?: I cut the size 16 in this jacket.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were! I had no problems with instructions or illustrations.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I like that this jacket was only 7 pattern pieces. I love the collar and pockets on View A and the other variations as well on this pattern. My FAVORITE thing about it are the hong kong seam finishes I did. Because this jacket is unlined, I wanted to add a little something more than my serger finish. Now this made this project extend for days but it was worth it!

Did you make any pattern alterations: I made no adjustments to this pattern.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? This fabric was gifted to me from The Fabric Store Online. Its a Wool Blend Suiting and I’m really excited because I think I have enough left for some pants!

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? I did! The sew along will be live this Friday on my YouTube Channel! Be sure to subscribe and turn on your notifications!

Would you sew it again? Yes! I would! I really like how versatile this jacket is!

Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely!

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog! Be sure to stay tuned for more projects, and videos coming up soon! Until next time….

Blessings,
