Animal Print Satin Slip Dress: Sicily Slip Dress
Hey everybody! Happy Monday! I am so excited to share my latest make and some of the details and inspiration behind it. I have been on the hunt for over a year now for a slip dress similar to the one I saw the gorgeous Ada Rojas wearing at Mimi and Norris Ford wedding. I loved it so much! It wasn’t until I saw Sicily Slip Dress that was released last week that I knew, I’d finally found it! Let’s get into the details!
the details
Pattern Used: I used the Sicily Slip Dress PDF pattern by Sewing Patterns by Masin. I made View A from the pattern.
Pattern Description: Sicily is a romantic bias cut slip dress. The dress pattern comes with two views, one with skinny straps and one with wider straps. *description from Sewing Patterns by Masin website.
Pattern Sewing Level: I didn’t see a sewing level for the pattern but if you’re comfortable with working with the recommended fabric types for this pattern (satins, charmeuse, silk, chiffon, viscose) you’ll be successful with this dress. The pattern pieces are cut on single layer and its only 4 pattern pieces.
What size did you cut?: I cut the size G for the bust and waist, and merged over to the I for the hips. After sewing the side seams, I tried it on, and realized I didn’t have to merge over for the hips. I ended up taking out excess fabric around the hip around. But I always rather have fabric to take in than not enough to let out!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes! I found the instructions very easy to follow and understand. The illustrations are great too!
What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I LOVE everything about this pattern. I love View B on it also but View A is my favorite. If you have a fuller bust and want more support View B will be great! I love the bias cut, how it flows and moves! It’s just great! I plan to make this dress many more times! It’s figure flattering and I felt very sassy in it lol!
Did you make any pattern alterations: I did not make any adjustments to the patterns.
Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? My fabric is a Telio Silky Satin Animal Print from Fabric.com. I purchased it during my birthday haul and now I wish I’d bought more because it’s sold out! Luckily it says more will be available soon, so if you want some, sign up to get the email alert!
Did you record a sew along for this pattern? I did not, but maybe I will put it in the queue. I really love this dress!
Would you sew it again? Oh yes! All my silky types, satin fabrics will be this dress. Lol!
Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely!
Well, that is all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! Until next time….
Blessings,
