trench vest: simplicity 8303

Hey everybody! Happy Wednesday! It’s Hump Day!!! Lol! This week has been a whole hump for me honestly! One of the schools my boys go to is having Minimum Day ALL week, so lets just say, nothing has really been getting done! I did manage to finish and photograph this trench vest that I’m so in love with, so let’s chat about it!

Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 8303! This pattern is no where to be found on their site or in Joann/Hobby Lobby but I did see a couple copies online in Etsy shops and Amazon.

Pattern Description: This is a Women’s Knit Top, Coat or Vest, Pant Pattern. This pattern is 18W-24W and 26W-30W. I loved that this patten was for Plus size. I think it’s a wonderful Fall Casual Mini Wardrobe Pattern.

Pattern Sewing Level: The top and pants on this pattern would be great for a beginner, and the coat and vest are great for an intermediate sewists or advanced beginner.

What size did you cut?: I cut the 18W on this pattern and made no adjustments to the size.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes! I had no issues following the directions or the illustrations in this pattern.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I LOVE this vest! The welts, the front overlay, everything! I thought about adding the sleeves but its really warm here in California, so the vest is perfect! I honestly may make it again though and do the coat with sleeves.

Did you make any pattern alterations: No, I made no adjustments or alterations to this pattern.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? This fabric was gifted to me from The Fabric Store Online! You all know I LOVE that store! This is the 7oz. Stretch Cotton Twill. It worked great for this vest! And I love the classic khaki color!

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? Don’t get mad….but no I didn’t! This pattern was actually going to be my next Online Wardrobe Series BUT I realized it was no longer available so I just made the vest since I already had the pieces cut! Sorry y’all!

Would you sew it again? Yes! Its worth making again! Maybe in black or olive OR navy!!!

Would you recommend it to others? Yes, if you can find this pattern, it’s a great vest and overall wardrobe pattern to have.

I styled this vest with my black Steve Madden ankle boots from DSW and a cute little black rib knit dress from Old Navy. I’m probably gonna copy this, make it a pattern and make me a few more of these dresses! I love it!

Well that’s all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by! Until next time…..

Blessings
