snakeskin print turtleneck dress: mccalls 7999

Hey everybody! Happy Wednesday! I hope you’re having a great start to your day and your December. I am so excited to celebrate the last month in 2019! Celebrate Jesus Christ, family, friends and celebrate some time off from sewing! I’m looking forward to planning out projects and events for next year! Speaking of events!!!! I’ll be traveling next year in February to do my first in-person “sew with me” in Georgia! I CAN NOT WAIT!!! I’ll be sharing more details in the coming weeks so be sure to follow my blog and Instagram! Now let’s get into this dress!

Pattern Used: I used McCalls 7999 and I made View C on the pattern.

Pattern Description: Close-fitting, pullover dresses have sleeve variations and stitched hem. A: collar. B: neck band and side slit. C: collar and back slit. *description from McCalls website.

Pattern Sewing Level: This is an easy pattern to sew. A beginner can definitely tackle this dress. It has 4 pattern pieces.

What size did you cut?: I cut the Large for the bust and waist and the X-Large for the hips.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they were easy to follow! The instructions and illustrations are well written.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? It’s a great turtleneck dress. For me this style of dress is one that I reach for all the time in Fall/Winter. I like that the dress is drafted with the peg hem, so the hem of the dress comes in towards the calf of the leg.

Did you make any pattern alterations: I did. The back slit was a little too high for me, so I stitched it down by 10 inches.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I purchased my fabric from my local Joann. I tried to find it online but it’s not there. I hope you can find it in your local Joann if you like this fabric!

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? Yes I did! The video is an exclusive sew along for my newsletter subscribers. If you’re on the list, I hope you already got the newsletter with the link. If you’re not subscribed my newsletter, you can do so below. It’s Free and I send out and exclusive sew alongs monthly!

Would you sew it again? Yes! I would. I’d like to make it in a textured knit next!

Would you recommend it to others? Yes! This is an easy to sew dress, and great for dressing up or down! I paired mine with heels, booties and a jacket to show you just how versatile it is!

Well thats all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by! Until next time…

Blessings
