Pink & Yellow Sapporo Coat: Papercut Patterns
Happy Thursday friends. It’s Friday Eve!! Lol I’m so excited to finally share with you all my first coat of 2021! Its always fun to sew something I don’t make a lot of and for me thats coats. I mean I do live in California, so coats aren’t really required LOL! Light jacket yes, coat…NO! But I wanted to make one anyway, so I did! The style of coat I wanted was an oversized coat, casual coat. I remembered a PDF I bought around the holidays last year and knew it was time to make it! Its such a popular pattern and some many amazing versions have been made already, honestly I kinda feel like the last person to make it! Lol! But I’m happy to join the Sapporo Coat club! Let’s get into the details.
the details
I used the Sapporo Coat PDF by Papercut Patterns for my coat! I love this oversized coat. The pattern lines, the pockets, neckline I love it all! For fabric, I wanted to have some fun with this one and add some color! Two colors to be exact lol! I used the Anuka Wool Fuchsia and Yellow from Melanated Fabrics for my coat. I didn’t know how these colors would look together but I took a chance and couldn’t be happier with the results. For the lining, I used a Silky Satin I found at my local fabric store.
size + adjustments
For sizing, I cut the 5-6. The coat is already oversized but I wanted it to be even more oversized so I went up. If I make it again in a light-mid weight fabric for Spring/Summer (and I plan too), I will go down to a 4. I did not make any adjustments to this pattern. The instructions were easy to follow along with so thats always great especially for those new to sewing and coat making.
the look
I am in love with overalls y’all! Lol! I no kidding wear overalls at least 3-4 times a week! I wore my latest favorite pair from Old Navy with a white tee for my look! My shoes were bought because of the coat! LOL! When Tanasha of @stylishheights shared her pair, I immediately went and bought me some! The colors just make me happy!
machine
I sewed my coat using my Husqvarna Viking Designer Epic 2! I mean, I had to pull Rainbow out with all her colors to make my color blocked coat! It just felt right!
Well, that is all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! If you have questions, leave them below! Until next time…
