Royal Blue Raglan Sleeve Dress: mccalls 7574
Hey friends! It’s Saturday so that means I have errands to run! When I’m going out to get multiple things done, I’m trying to be as comfortable as possible! That usually means jeans/overalls, t-shirts, and sneakers. Today, I’m going out in my new McCalls 7574 dress! It’s just as comfortable and cute for today! This pattern is an old one. I’ve had this pattern in my stash for YEARS, and can’t believe I never got around to making it! I guess it took the right fabric and shoes to come along that got me excited for this dress. Either way, glad I finally made it! Let’s get into the details!
the details
I used McCalls 7574 and made View D on the pattern. This is a raglan sleeve top/dress pattern so the sleeves are in two pieces. They gave a little confusion when installing because well….I was on Instagram Live at the time, but you have to curve them in. I was so confused for a second LOL! I had to laugh at myself during my #sewin30 live! This dress also has a high-low shaped hem and splits on the sides. I love the hemline so much!
For fabric, I used this Perla Knit from Melanated Fabrics! This knit is amazing! The stretch and recovery is everything. It’s light but has great stability. One of my favorite knits in our inventory.
size + adjustments
For size, I cut the 16 for the bust and merged over to the 20 for the hips. This dress has pockets, but with me doing the merging between sizes, it gave the pockets a weird look, (my hips looked like they had ears) so I closed the side seams and took the pockets off. I made no further adjustments to the pattern.
the look
This look was pretty simple. I put on my new favorite sneakers, twist my braids into a knot and went out to run my errands!
machine
I made my dress using my Husqvarna Viking Epic 95Q! The Integrated Dual Feed System makes sewing with knits and other silky/pile fabrics easy!
Well, thats all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! Until next time….
Blessings,
