Black & Lime Stripe Top: mccalls 8001

Hey friends! Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was great! I took time to sew and relax this weekend, and it was much needed! Today, I’m sharing my latest sewn project and it’s McCalls 8001! I did a sewing plans/pattern preview on my Youtube channel for this last week, so I’m excited have it finished! Did I have to wake up at 6 AM yesterday to finish sewing/recording it and then hurry outside to take pics before daybreak……yes, but I got it done! Lol! Let’s get into the details of this top!

pattern + fabric

For the top, I used McCalls 8001 and made View B on the pattern. I really like the oversized, loose vibe of the top, and the fact that you could have fun with some stripe fabric. You can also play with prints/solids or color blocking for this top!

For fabric, I used this Vangogh Rayon Print from Melanated Fabrics. The fabric is 100% Rayon, it drapes, presses and sews beautifully. This fabric is still in stock and its available in 2 other color ways.

size + adjustments

For size, I cut the M for this top! With the top being oversized, its drafted with a lot of ease. So be sure to check the finished garment measurements before picking and buying the pattern envelope. I made no adjustments to this top, I followed the instructions for View B and had no issues. I did record this for sew along while I was making it! The faux leather joggers are my current fav and they are from Target! I also have them in brown!

I stitched my top using my Husqvarna Viking Epic 95Q! I love the Intergrated Dual Feed on this machine! It acts as a walking foot, so it was amazing for keeping my stripes together while I was sewing. You can check out my unboxing for the Husqvarna Viking Epic 95Q here!
