pull on maxi godet skirt: simplicity 8923
Hey everybody! Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! I had a very productive one! I got some recording done for new sewing videos, caught up on blog posts (YASSSS), watched some football, and of course Sunday worship! It was just what I needed to get this week started off right! Today I’m sharing this maxi skirt that I made and shared with my newsletter subscribers last month (I said I was catching up lol) and it’s become an unexpected favorite! Let’s get into the details!
Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 8923 for this maxi skirt! I made View A on the pattern.
Pattern Description: Simplicity Sewing Pattern S8923 Misses' Pull-On Skirts in different lengths. *description from Simplicity website.
Pattern Sewing Level: This is an easy to sew skirt and I would say a beginner could be successful at making it.
What size did you cut?: I cut the size 20 for this skirt.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were! I had no issues with the instructions or the illustrations for this pattern.
What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I really liked the style of this skirt with all the godets. Before constructing it, I underestimated how long it would take to sew and install them all, plus finishing the seams. But that not really a dislike, just me thinking it would be a quick sew. While it is an easy skirt, it does take time to get it done.
Did you make any pattern alterations: I made no adjustments to this pattern.
Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I purchased both fabrics from Joann. They are both Rayon and can be found in the Silky Print section. Before sewing them together, I was a little worried how they would look together, and honestly while I was sewing it, I almost trashed it! LOL! But once I styled it and photographed it, I really like the fabrics together! Thats why I said it’s an unexpected favorite! It’s giving off boho vibes! Love it!
