linen pull on pants: simplicity 8605
Hey everybody! Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! I spent mine cutting out patterns and getting a couple projects sewn up! It was awesome, because I really haven’t been in the mood to sew lately but I feel myself slowing coming back and this project really helped! Whenever I lose my “sewjo” I look for quick, no thinking, projects that I can sew up without any issues! So a cute simple top, or a front, back and sleeve dress, or in this case, some pull on pants! I’ve had this Simplicity pattern for a while, so it was great to pull it out and sew it up! Fair warning…..I love it so I’ll be making more! Let’s get into the details.
Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 8605 to make these pants and sewed view A and E on the pattern.
Pattern Description: The easy-to-sew high paper bag waist pants and skirts for Misses sized XS to XL feature pull-on design with pockets and tie belt. Pants have a wide leg. Skirt and pants are available in two lengths. *description from Simplicity website.
Pattern Sewing Level: This is a beginner level pattern. If you can create an elastic casing and install side seam pockets you can be successful with this pattern.
What size did you cut?: I cut the XL for this pattern.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were easy to follow. I honestly sewed the whole pants together without looking at the instructions until I got to the casing and needed to know the distance between the casing rows, but what I did see, was well written and the illustrations were as well.
What did you like or dislike about the pattern? No dislikes, this is a great pull on pants pattern with other views for a skirt too. It sews up easy, it has pockets, nice wide leg, and I like the casings on the waistband.
Did you make any pattern alterations: Yes I did! I had to slash and spread to some length to the back rise. I measured myself and the pattern was 2” short for my measurement, so I added one inch where I slashed it at and distributed the other inch between the inner leg seam and top of the seam.
Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? The fabric I used is one of The Fabric Store Online new exclusive colors the Brick! I love this color!
Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not. Maybe one day though because they are super easy to whip up!
Would you sew it again? Oh yeah!
Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I do! If you need a quick sew project, this is a good pattern!
Well that’s all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by! Be sure to stop by my Youtube channel and subscribe for sewing videos and tutorials! Until next time…
