the leopard skirt: simplicity 8388
Hey everybody! Happy Wednesday! Today I’m sharing a skirt that I made last year! I don’t know if I should laugh or be ashamed at that statement! (feeling a little ashamed, this skirt is too good not to have shared immediately) In my defense though, we were getting ready to move cross country during that timeframe so I’m guessing, I ran out of time to get it photographed and up on the blog! But there’s no time like the present, so let get into the details for this Simplicity 8388 skirt!
pattern review
Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 8388 to make this skirt, and I made View A on the pattern.
Pattern Description: Misses’ flounce skirts with length variations have invisible side zipper. Views A and B have single flounces with two length options. Skirt C is double and D or E feature triple flounces. Skirt can be made in eyelet or lace fabric or made unique by adding trim on the ends of the flounces. *description from Simplicity website
Pattern Sewing Level: If you can sew in an invisible zipper, attach facing and flounces, you can be successful with this skirt!
What size did you cut?: I cut the size 18 for the waist and size 22 for the hips.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Like I said, it’s been a while since I made this skirt, but I don’t recall running into any issues with the written instructions or the illustrations in the pattern.
What did you like or dislike about the pattern? No dislikes! I LOVE this skirt and the fit of it! I love the other options and views on the pattern for multiple flounces.
Did you make any pattern alterations: The only adjustment I made was grading the size from the 18 to the 22.
Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? This AMAZING fabric is from The Fabric Store Online. The fabric is now sold out but they have other options here.
