black & white gingham jacket: simplicity 8994

Hey everybody! Happy Tuesday! I’ve been a sewing and recording machine the last of couple days Lol! My latest make is this Black and White Gingham jacket I made using Simplicity 8994! To say I’m obsessed with it, would be an understatement! I LOVE IT! Let’s get into the details of it!

Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 8994 for this jacket!

Pattern Description: Mimi G Style Jacket, Skirt and Top. Blouson-style jacket with front zipper and flapped pockets. Long-sleeve top is designed and sized for stretch knits only. Mini-skirt has front feature pockets and zip-fastens at back. *description from Simplicity website.

Pattern Sewing Level: This jacket would be great for an intermediate sewist.

What size did you cut?: I cut the 14. I wanted this jacket to be fitted so I cut the 14 which is my exact size. I plan to make it again and cut the 16 for it to be a little oversized.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were. I had no problems while making this jacket.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I love this pocket on this jacket, the collar and that it’s fully lined! I don’t have any dislikes, although I would suggest getting a 20” and a 22”. I bought the 22” zipper and ended up removing two inches worth of zipper teeth to shorten it. So just keep that in mind while buying supplies. You may want to get two.

Did you make any pattern alterations: I made no adjustments to the pattern.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I purchased my fabric from my local Joann. It’s in the Sportswear Twill section.

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? Yes I did! I was asked to step in for Mimi G to record the sew alongs for her latest Simplicity patterns. You can watch the video for this jacket here.

Would you sew it again? Yes! I think I will use a Sherpa to make an oversized fluffy jacket with this pattern.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes! This is a great jacket pattern.
