new favorite denim skirt: simplicity 8994
Hey everybody! I hope you’re having a wonderful day! Today I’m sharing this super cute denim skirt I made using Simplicity 8994! It so good y’all, so let’s get into the details….
pattern review:
Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 8994 for the skirt!
Pattern Description: Mimi G Style Jacket, Skirt and Top. Blouson-style jacket with front zipper and flapped pockets. Long-sleeve top is designed and sized for stretch knits only. Mini-skirt has front feature pockets and zip-fastens at back. *description from Simplicity website.
Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern has some great details like the pockets and installing a fly zipper. In my opinion, an intermediate sewists can be successful with this pattern.
What size did you cut?: I cut the 24 for this skirt.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes the instructions were easy to follow along with and the illustrations were accurate and great too!
What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I LOVE the pockets on this skirt! It was my first time sewing this type of pocket and I love them! I also like the length of this skirt. I know a lot of sewist were concerned with the length, but its not too short (for my style).
Did you make any pattern alterations: I did not make any pattern adjustments. I do wish I would’ve cut a smaller size for my waist and graded it over to the 24 for the hips, but I’ll do that next time!
Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I used a denim that I had in my stash. I forget where I purchased it from but its the same fabric I used to make my denim jacket.
Did you record a sew along for this pattern? Yes I did! I was asked to step in for Mimi G while she was traveling to record the sew along for this pattern and they are live now! You can watch this skirt sew along here.
Would you sew it again? Yes! Its so cute and I need one in corduroy to wear with booties for Fall!
Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely!
Well thats all for today! Thank you so much for stopping my blog! Until next time…
Blessings
