Navy Textured Knit Twist Dress: McCalls 7429

Hey everybody! Happy Thursday! I am currently in route to go attend a ceremony to support my husband but I just had to share the dress I made to wear for it! This one is an oldie but goodie and I’m so happy I revisited it!

McCalls 7429 is one of those body-flattering dresses that looks fabulous on many figures! I just LOVE it and I feel real grown in it ;)! The first time I made this dress, I didn’t know anything about merging pattern lines to get a better fit, so as you guessed, it didn’t fit that well in the bust! (its so awesome to grow, learn and be able to get better in your craft)

So this was a “re-do” make if you will! I wanted to get a better fit than my last version of this dress, so I kinda free-handed my merging because their are NO finished garment measurements on this pattern ANYWHERE, so I just had to wing it! I cut the 16 for the bust, 18 around the waist, and 20 for the hips.

For fabric, I used this amazing Paola Pique Knit from Fabric.com (navy sold-out, but other colors are available). I love this fabric! The texture on it fantastic! I’m crazy about textured fabrics, especially knits! I guess thats why I love Liverpool Knit so much!

This fabric is a med-weight knit, so it was a little thick for creating the twist, but it worked out. Speaking of twist, I almost had to watch my own video to get through it this time! LOL! I was saying to myself “this thing looks different” LOL! But I managed to figure it out without having to watch MYSELF on YouTube! LOL!

I’m so happy with the way this version turned out, and I’ll have to let you know what hubs thinks about it later ;)! If you want to make this dress for yourself, you can click here to watch my Sew With Me video for it! I do my best to explain the twist to make it as easy as possible to understand!

Until next time….

Blessings
