Double Poly Knit Dress: McCalls 7561
Hey everybody! Happy Monday and October 1!!! I hope you had a great weekend! Today’s post is one of those projects that I messed up originally, but knew I couldn’t trash it because the fabric was too good. So I had to hack up something that ended up being my new favorite little dress! Today is THAT kind of post! LOL!
When I got this Double Poly Brushed Knit from LaFinch Fabrics, I knew I wanted it to be a maxi! Its Fall and I love to wear maxis with scarves, cardigans, booties I love them! So that was my idea and I found McCalls 7531 in my stash to use. Long story short, even after adding length to make it a maxi, it was a FAIL! I had more than enough fabric too, but I still managed to cut a weird ankle length dress instead of a maxi!
I thought about just moving on to the next project, but this fabric is just too good. If you’ve never had double poly brushed knit before, its the one of the softest knit fabrics! It is lightweight and the inside and outside both has the same feel! I love it!
To fix my failed maxi, I decided to cut it a little above the waistline, and use McCalls 7561 to get the look of View B on that pattern. I think the fix worked out, because I really love it! It’s super comfy and I can wear it as a dress or with jeans! I will probably revisit this pattern again soon because I really like the views on it too!
Let this be a lesson to to not be discouraged or hard on yourself for your mistakes! Project fails will happen, but sometimes you can hack it up and still get something cute out of it!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Until next time….
Blessings
