yellow dress w/godet: mccalls 8178
Hey friends! Happy Tuesday! I’m so excited to share with you all a new make! Feels like forever since I’ve blogged! Today is all about McCalls 8178! This was one pattern I knew I was going to get because I’m a big fan of godet skirts! I love the swing and twirl that you instantly get from them! Do I like installing the godet….um no…lol! But its worth it in the end! Let’s get into the details.
the details
I used McCalls 8178 for the pattern and made View C without the belt. This pattern has drop shoulders so be mindful of that. I had to look at the pattern a couple times to figure out why my seam wasn’t hitting at my shoulders and then I read the description LOL! I’m sure thats to accommodate for it not having any closures!
For fabric, I used an amazing Lyocell Twill in the color Mustard from Melanated Fabrics! I knew the drape of this fabric would be perfect for this dress! Plus the color is one of my favs! We currently have Rust, Henna, Tobacco and Black in stock for this fabric!
size + adjustments
For size, I cut the 16 for the bust and 18 for the hips. I knew with this skirt I wouldn’t need to merge over to my usually 20/22 for the hips because it has so much swing. I didn’t make any other adjustments to this dress. This dress comes together nicely but the godet are time consuming so keep that in mind.
insides
Just wanted to share a few pics of the insides of this dress. I took these after photographing so excuse the wrinkles:)! (pictured: elastic sleeve casing, bodice and skirt side seam, one godet insert, 5/8” hem, under stitching of facing)
Well, that’s all for today! Thank you all so much for stopping by my blog! Until next time,
Blessings,
