Double Gauze Tiered Skirt: mccalls 8066/7604
Hey everybody! Happy Friday! Today I am sharing a skirt that I can honestly say I did not love at first. My first and immediate reaction after finishing the skirt was, “Oh my gosh, who school colors are these?” LOLOLOL! I legit started singing, “we got spirit yes we do, we got spirit how about you” LOL! I shared it on my Instagram stories, and while a lot of people loved it, I still felt like something was definitely off and I didn’t love it!
Fast forward to after letting it hang on my mannequin for a couple days, I decided to go ahead and photograph it. Maybe taking pics in it would change my mind. So I made a quick cami, put on my sneakers, and here we are! Me, totally loving my skirt! Let’s get into the details.
the details
Pattern Used: I used McCalls 8066 for this skirt and made View C. This pattern is a re-print so you may have a different number. The exact pattern is also 7604. The cami is from Mimi G x Simplicity 9114. I love this cami! I’ve made it twice already.
Pattern Description: Pull-on skirts have flat front and back elastic waistband, length and tier variations. *description from McCalls website.
Pattern Sewing Level: The sewing level is Easy. This pattern is included in their Learn To Sew For Fun collection.
What size did you cut?: I cut the L for this skirt, but I ended up having to take some in at the waist so I could’ve cut the M.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes! These instructions are geared toward an absolute beginner so they go into greater details in the instructions and illustrations.
What did you like or dislike about the pattern? No dislikes. I like that it’s a flat front, elastic back waistband. It’s really comfortable and the tiers are always trendy for spring and summer. Pockets would’ve been great but you can always add them, if you want.
Did you make any pattern alterations: I did not make any adjustments or alterations to this pattern.
Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? My fabric is from Joann but you can find it at other shops like Sewing Studio, Mood Fabrics, Style Maker Fabrics . They have some really beautiful colors in stock.
Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not record a sew along for this dress.
Would you sew it again? I would. I’ve made it a couple times before, so I’m sure I’ll revisit it again.
Would you recommend it to others? Yes, especially is you’re a beginner sewer. This is a great skirt to make.
Also I took a couple pics with my denim jacket too. I wasn’t in focus *eye roll lol. But I still wanted to share because I’ll most likely throw on my denim jacket whenever I wear this out! Well, that is all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! Until next time….
