Lucinda Dress: Friday Pattern Company

IMG_7078.jpg

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday! Today, I’m sharing an indie pattern! I must admit my indie pattern stash is MUCH smaller than my commercial patterns, but I’ve been buying a lot of pdf patterns lately! Some from Fibre Mood, True Bias, and this one from Friday Pattern Company!

I’ve been seeing a lot of sew sisters make The Wilder Gown from Friday Pattern Company so I browsed their website and came across the Lucinda. I loved the front tie detail, and the fabric and easy styling of the model! So I bought the PDF pattern, printed it, taped it, cut it, and stitched this dress up! Let’s get into more details!

the details

Pattern Used: I used the Lucinda Dress from Friday Pattern Company.

Pattern Description: The Lucinda features cap sleeves, an adjustable tie at the neckline, and a slight a line skirt. *description from Friday Pattern Company.

Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern is rated for Beginner Sewing Level.

What size did you cut?: I cut the XL for this dress.

Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were easy to follow. I always have to remind myself that indie instructions are not the same as commercial instructions. I think they really go into more detail and give special tips along the way, which is a good thing especially if you’re a beginner.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I love the front adjustable tie detail. It’s a really easy dress to sew up and it’s really comfortable. I wasn’t a fan of lining the front but I understand why it says to do that to create the tubes for the ties. I didn’t line my front bodice, because I didn’t want my fabric print to show through and I didn’t have anything solid in my stash that would work. So I measured off a piece of fabric the width of the front for the tubes, and stitched that on AFTER doing a narrow hem along the neckline. If you do this, leave a couple inches along the neckline free near the shoulder so after you stitch the front and back shoulders together, you can finish the neckline in a clean stitch.

Did you make any pattern alterations: Other than the lining portion, I added 10 inches to the length and 2 inches to the sleeves.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I purchased my fabric a couple years ago from Fashion Fabrics Club. It’s a Rayon Knit. Very lightweight, 4-way stretch, drapey fabric.

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not record a sew along for this dress.

Would you sew it again? Yes I would! I really like this dress. Its a great dress to wear out with some sandals and also a great dress for just relaxing around the house!

Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I would!

Well, that is all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! Until next time….

Blessings,
