honeysuckle linen tunic: mccalls 7925

Hey everybody! Happy Wednesday! I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far! My week is going great. I’ve recorded a couple videos, I’m currently making Christmas ornaments (I know, I know it’s not Thanksgiving yet, but I must get an early start on these. Stay tuned) and I’m working on a trench that I’m so excited to get finished to share about it! Today though, I’m going to share more about this dress turned tunic that I just LOVE! Let’s get into the details.

Pattern Used: For this top I used McCalls 7925. I used View D and shortened it for a tunic length.

Pattern Description: Button-front dresses are fitted through the bust with a neck band, inset midriff, and sleeve and skirt variations. B: Elasticized sleeves, purchased piping. D: Elasticized sleeves, tie ends encased in side seams. *description from McCalls website

Pattern Sewing Level: Sewing level is for Easy. If you’re comfortable with making buttonholes, sewing on buttons, making gathers and doing some hand-sewing you can nail this pattern.

What size did you cut?: I cut the 16 at the bust, merged the lines to the 18 at the waist, and 20 for the hips. I didn't want any buttons pulling around the hips so I had sure to merge the lines over to account for my full hips.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were. I had no issues with the instructions or illustrations for this pattern.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I LOVE the neckline and sleeve variations on the pattern. My favorite is View D and I really wanted to do the full length for the dress but I didn’t have enough fabric, so tunic it was. I have no dislikes about the pattern.

Did you make any pattern alterations: Other than merging between pattern lines and shortening the length, I made no other adjustments.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I used this HoneySuckle Linen from The Fabric Store online. I love the quality of their lines and the new exclusive colors they have in stock are beautiful.

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not record a sew along for this top.

Here’s a few pics of the inside of the garment. First pic is the midriff facing slipstitching, next is a pic of the seams. I finished them with my serger (it looks white but I used a light pink color for the serger threads), then the narrow hem to finish off the hem of the top. Next pic is the sleeve elastic casing, and a pic of a snap I added near the hem just to keep the top closed at the bottom. I think I add another snap near the waist between those buttons, and the last pic is of the buttons. I purchased those from my local Hobby Lobby.

Would you sew it again? Yes I think I will make View D but with the full length again! I really love that dress!

Would you recommend it to others? Yes!

Well that’s all for this linen top! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog! Until next time….

Blessings
