floral skirt set: mccalls 7543 & simplicity 8927
Hey everybody! I hope you’re having a wonderful day! Today, I am sharing all about this top and skirt floral set! When I say I love it….I LOVE IT! But first lets get the back story because you know I always have one! This was a “make it work” project! Or at least the top was! I had this print and the same smaller scale print and I wanted to have the small print for the top and larger print for the skirt! It was a FAIL! It was wayyy to much and just distracting! So I ditched the top and used the last bit of the larger scale print to make this off the shoulder top! That was a WIN!! So let’s get into the details!
Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 8927 for this skirt and McCalls 7543 for the top!
Pattern Description: For the top: Pullover tops, tunic and dress have elastic on shoulders and sleeve variations. A: Straps. C: Shaped hemline. *description from McCalls website. For the skirt: Misses' Tie Front Tops and Skirts by Mimi G Style *description from Simplicity website.
Pattern Sewing Level: The top is categorized as Easy and it really is an easy top to sew up! The skirt is easy to sew up as well, and if you can sew on buttonholes you can totally make this skirt!
What size did you cut?: For the top I cut the L, for the skirt I cut the 24.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes both of the instructions are easy to follow along with.
What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I’ve made the top a couple times and love it! The skirt was amazing and I really like that it had so many seams making it easy to adjust to get a better fit!
Did you make any pattern alterations: Yes! I had to take in about 4 inches around the waist. I cut the skirt to fit my hips only so I knew I would need to take in some fabric for the waist.
Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I got this amazing fabric from The Fabric Store! I absolutely love it! It’s so good!
Did you record a sew along for this pattern? I have a video on my channel for the McCalls 7543 top and Mimi G has a sew along for the skirt on her channel!
Would you sew it again? Yes! I will definitely make this skirt again! I’ve made the top a couple times already so I probably won’t revisit this pattern, but the skirt…YES!!
Would you recommend it to others? Yes! Both are great and together they make a super cute set!
Thank you all so much for stopping by! Until next time…
Blessings
