Denim Sleeveless Trench Coat: McCalls 7749
Hey everybody! I hope you're doing well! Today is all about the mommy and me McCalls 7749 trench coat pattern by Nikki of BeauteJadore. I appreciate all the love you all show for our mommy and me matching looks! I really love and enjoy twinning with my mini!
I joined in with Monica of @thatssewmonica to do her #sewyourview May challenge. Always fun to collab with her! This pattern is really awesome and I plan to make it again in the fall. I choice a denim fabric for my main fabric and a blue and white gingham for the lining. I didn't want to go with the classic trench for this one, my idea was to keep it really casual.
I love the details on this jacket. The back yoke is probably my favorite detail about it! I had a hard time finding 18 matching buttons in the craft stores, but I was happy to come across these navy buttons in Joanns. They have a light blue streak in the middle of them, so I took that as a sign! LOL! They are not all matching sizes. I used 6- 1" buttons on my fronts and 3/4" on the pockets and tab.
Justice has 6- 7/8" buttons on her fronts and 3/4" buttons on the pockets and tab like mine. One adjustment that I made was instead of sewing and folding the tab over on top of jacket shoulder seam. I sewed the tab in between the fabric and lining at the shoulder seam, and then folded it over and tacked it down. So the tab looks like its coming from outside the seam and not just on top of the jacket.
The Misses pattern is sewn exactly the same way as the toddler with the exception of the belt loops and tie belt. I omitted the loops and tie belt on my jacket and I also decided to shorten it and cut off 9 inches.
Justice jacket is a little too big for her, but I don't mind because in a couple months it'll fit perfect! I let her have the post today and shared all her pics so I hope you enjoyed them!
Thanks so much for stopping by today.
Until next time...
Blessings
