sleeves: mccalls 7838 button up shirt

Hey everybody! Happy Friday! I am so happy it’s the weekend! I don’t have much planned besides cleaning the house and going to my son basketball game, but being able to sleep in an extra hour is what I’m really looking forward too! Today, I am sharing a top I made a couple weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE it! I can 100% say that you will see a lot of fun, big, extra sleeves from me this season! My style is really casual, so having fun with sleeves and fabrics is really all I got! LOLOL!!! Let’s get into the details…..

Pattern Used: I used McCalls 7838 for this top and I made View C on the pattern.

Pattern Description: Loose-fitting button front tops with back yoke and length and sleeve variations. B: Wrong side of fabric shows on shaped hemline. C: Button cuffs. *description from McCalls website.

Pattern Sewing Level: The pattern is rated Easy! I will say, if you can attach a collar, do gathers, and sew on buttonholes, you can be successful with this pattern.

What size did you cut?: I cut the 18 for the bust and I merged to the 20 for the waist/hip. I wanted to be able to button it all the way down so I went up to the next size.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were. I was able to follow along with the instructions and Illustrations in the pattern with no problem.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I LOVE the sleeves! That’s what I fell in love with when I first saw the pattern and they really are fun and just….fabulous! Lol! I don’t have any dislikes about it.

Did you make any pattern alterations: Other than merging the pattern sizes, no.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I used a White Linen for my top! I love how light and crisp it feels! The fabric is from The Fabric Store Online. It was leftovers from this Twist Front dress I made a couple months ago! I also paired it with these black high waist corduroy pants I made last year!

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not record a sew along for it.

Would you sew it again? Yes! It’s a great top and I love the other views on this pattern as well!

Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely!

Well that’s all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! I hope you have a great day and I’m off to go clean LOL! Until next time….

Blessings,
