pink collar knit dress: simplicity 9741

Hi friends. Happy Friday! Today is the Barbie movie premiere and with all the pink on my timelines, I had to sew something pink for today! I wanted to make a garment that I knew I’d get a lot of wear from so I opted for a casual dress. I wanted something easy for summer that I could wear with sandals or sneakers and Simplicity 9741 was perfect! Lets get into the details…..

Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 9741 for this dress and I made View A on the pattern.

Pattern Description: Simple but never plain! This collar knit dress in two lengths has dropped shoulders, short sleeves with top stitching at sleeve hem and back vent for View B dress. *description from Simplicity website.

Pattern Sewing Level: The sewing level is Average.

What size did you cut?: I cut the 22 for the bust and waist and a 24 for the hips.

Were the instructions easy to follow? I honestly didn’t even look at the instructions. I watched the sew along video for pattern and it was perfect!

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I do not have any dislikes about this pattern. I do like that it was an easy sew. I also love that the collar was one pattern piece. This was actually my first time sewing a collar with the band attached to it and it came together great.

Did you make any pattern adjustments: Other than merging over to the 24 at the hips, I did not make any adjustments to the pattern.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? My fabric is from Melanated Fabrics! I used this Perla Knit Hot Pink fabric here.

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? No, I did not record a sew along for this dress, but Mimi G did and you can watch it here.

Would you sew it again? Absolutely! I love this dress and I will definitely make another one!

Would you recommend it to others? Yes! Its a great pattern and it available in S9740 Misses & Women’s S9741!
