loose fitting romper: mccalls 7607: featuring lillium by katie kortman

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! Today I am sharing with you a project that is outside of my norm as far as garments I usually create, but one that I surprisingly had a lot of fun making! I’ll be honest though I had my doubts! “Am I doing this gorgeous fabric justice by making it into a romper?” “Will this style even look “good” on me?” So many questions ran through my head, but I’m glad I went ahead and made it! Not only is it SUPER comfy, great for the HEAT in San Diego right now, I love it, feel great in it and that’s really all that matters!

Before I get into the details of this romper, I want to share more about this beautiful fabric. This post is in collaboration with D&H Fabrics. They are all printed onto a fabulous Rayon Poplin and when I say it SO soft and drapes wonderfully, I mean it! I’m so happy I have about a 1/2 yard left! Crossing my fingers I can get a cami out of it!

Now let’s get into the review of the romper, McCalls 7607.

Pattern Used: I used McCalls 7607 for this romper! I’ve been eyeing that jumpsuit since the pattern was released but haven’t gotten around to it! Glad I made the romper though!

Pattern Description: Very loose-fitting top, romper and jumpsuit has very fitted upper facing, ties at shoulders, invisible back zipper and sleeve variations. Very loose-fitting pull on pants have elasticized waist. (description from McCalls website)

Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern is rated Easy! It does have an invisible zipper in the back so be mindful of that if you’re a beginner.

What size did you cut?: I cut the 18 for the bust and waist and a 20 for the hips. This was a little tricky because it had no finished garment measurements on this pattern. None on the envelope or tissue paper, so honestly I just guessed! With it being so loose fitting, it was kinda hard (for me anyway) to determine what size to cut. But I’m so glad I went with the 18 for the bust instead of my normal 16. Had I cut the 16 it would’ve been too tight around the top of the romper!

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they were really easy to follow. Its not too many steps either. Once the zipper in installed, it’s all finishings from there.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? Not really any dislikes other than it not having pockets, but that was my fault! Still kicking myself for not adding them! I really like that the top of it is a fitted facing. I thought it had some elastic at the top but its only gathers.

Did you make any pattern alterations: No alterations other than merging the pattern lines to get my size.
