floral ruffle maxi: butterick 6677

Hey everybody! Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing my recent make and it’s non other than a good ole maxi dress that’s perfect for summer! This Butterick 6677 pattern caught my eye with all the cute ruffles it has on it, and I was eager to pick this one up when Joann had their next Butterick sale! So let’s get into the details of it!

Pattern Used: I used Butterick 6677 and made View C on this pattern.

Pattern Description: Semi-fitted, sleeveless dress has elasticized waist, back opening with button and thread loop closure, side slant pockets, and sash. Purchased bias tape for neck and armhole finish. A, B: Flounce detail. B, C: Lower ruffle. *description from Butterick website.

Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern is rated as Easy. I think if you can create gathers and sew on bias tape you can be successful with this pattern.

What size did you cut?: I cut the 16 for the bust and graded to the 18 for the waist and hips.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were easy to follow along to. I didn’t have any issues or problems understanding the illustrations while sewing it.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I didn’t have any dislikes for the pattern. I think it’s a cute dress especially for the warmer months and also for transitioning into Fall with a jacket or cardigan. I also like the ruffle details around the sleeves (I would’ve added those if I had enough fabric) and the lower ruffle!

Did you make any pattern alterations: Other than adjusting for the size, I didn’t make any adjustments to the pattern.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I purchased my fabric from LA Finch Fabrics. The fabric is sold out but they have some other great Rayon prints that will be great for this pattern.

Would you sew it again? Ummm, maybe. I like the dress, but I have a lot of patterns and some are similar to this so if I do make it, it won’t be no time soon.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes! If you want a cute maxi or knee length easy sew dress, this is a great option!
