Floral Poplin Tie Strap Dress: McCalls 7950

Hey everybody! Happy Friday! As far as projects go, this will probably be my last “summer style” project, and by that I mean, sleeveless, shoulder straps all the good stuff that makes this dress so cute lol! I’m ready to begin looking at corduroy, plaids, sweater knits and start thinking of Fall sewing. It’ll probably be December for I cam actually wear it here in California but I’m ready nonetheless to start sewing for the next season! So with all that being said, let’s get into the details of what I’m calling my last summer make!

Pattern Used: For this dress, I used McCalls 7950 and I made View D on that pattern.

Pattern Description: A, B, C, D dress in two lengths is close fitting through the bust, has self faced bodice, slightly flared, gathered skirt, shoulder strap and pocket variation. A, B: Bodice ties in front. A, B, D has side seam pockets. A, B: Mid-knee length. C, D: Lower Calf length. B:Scalloped border print. *description from McCalls website.

Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern is rated Easy. If you can sew buttonholes, you can definitely sew this dress!

What size did you cut?: I cut the 18 for the bust and merged to the 20 for the waist!

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes! I didn’t have any issue following along with the instructions or illustrations.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I like the different views on this pattern. Depending on your style you can have a cute tie detail in the front or the other other option that I went with! Both are cute! I also like that the bodice is lined and it wasn’t just a facing!

Did you make any pattern alterations: I did not but I wish I would’ve cut the bodice at a 16 and 18, instead of the 18 and 20. It’s not a huge issue, but I would’ve liked a snugger fit around the bust!

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? This fabric was gifted to me from Fashion Fabrics Club and its this Red Multi Pansy Floral Poplin! It’s currently sold out but here is a Orange and White Check Linen that would would great for this dress also!

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? I did not record it! This was one of those projects I just wanted to relax, take my time, and enjoy the process of sewing!

Would you sew it again? Maybe! It’s a cute dress and I love it but I have A LOT of dresses similar to this already! If I do make it, It’ll be another view on the pattern!

Would you recommend it to others? Yes! If you want some cute summer dresses, this is a great pattern for it!

Well, that’s all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by! Until next time…

Blessings
