Floral Easter Dress: Simplicity 1059 & 8225
Hey everybody! I hope you had a beautiful Easter yesterday! I really enjoyed my day from getting dressed in my new DIY (more on that in a bit), going to church, cooking dinner, taking an afternoon nap (because Sunday naps are the best) and simply relaxing with my crew! I was happy I made time to sew up another mommy and me look for Easter this year. At the beginning of the year, I said I wanted to make more mommy and me looks, and I think I'm off to a good start!
Now, because I started Tuesday (the week of Easter) I knew I had to keep the dresses simply but still cute. For my dress, I reached for my ole' reliable Simplicity 1059! I've made this dress 3 times now (here and here), and I'm pretty sure I'll make more in the future! I just LOVE it! I made View A, cut the size 16 and it fits perfect! I made two adjustment to it and one was to eliminate the back zipper. In my opinion the deep v neckline is low enough to just slip overhead. I also raised the v neckline up a little (about 2 inches) for my comfort.
Would you believe I found this fabric at Walmart for $2.50/yard? I kid not! I was shocked when I saw it and quickly bought 5 yards. According to some of my fellow sew sister that saw my dresses on Instagram, they found some at their local Walmart and its now $1.00/YARD!!! Now I don't know the exact contents of this fabric, but from feel and working with it, its definitely in the rayon challis family!! It drapes beautifully and I really enjoyed sewing with it!
For Justice dress, I went with Simplicity 8225. Justice is in between sizes right now, some patterns she needs a 2 and in others a 3 is perfect. I decided to go with the this pattern and try the 3. So glad I did. Clearly she grew overnight because the last size 3 I made her was wayyy too big! I went with View B but View A length. I love the final look of it, and the sleeves are so cute!
Over Easter weekend, Hobby Lobby was having a sale so I drove down to see if I could find some fabric I liked, and of course patterns! Since I'm up-to-date on Simplicity for myself, I wanted to focus more on patterns for Justice. I did find a few that I love and can't wait to make for her and a couple for matching looks with me!!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Until next time...
Blessings
