Blue Floral Wrap Dress: Butterick 5030

Hey everybody! I hope you had a great weekend! I spent most of Saturday with my family at the park and downtown Beaufort eating ice cream! It was so much fun and exhausting! LOL! I played tag with our boys and lets just say, I kept being "it" because I can't run! LOL!!!!! Sunday was a full sew day for me after church and I am in love with the project I'm working on! Until its finished and I can share it, lets chat about my new wrap dress that, you guessed it....I LOVE!

But first, let me give you the back story! Last Sunday, I found myself standing in my closet searching for something to wear to church and soooo disappointed that I've neglected my church wardrobe! I said in the past that I would start to focus a bit more, and create more of a church wardrobe, but I clearly got distracted again! I managed to pull a me-made look together, but wore a cardigan over it, because it was sleeveless, and I don't like sleeveless/off-the-shoulder/split sleeves garments for church. Long story short.....I came home and started on this dress immediately.

I'm in love with it! Butterick 5030 is a fabulous, and it may be my go-to wrap dress pattern. I made View C, and I cut the size 16 in the bust and graded to an 18 for the waist and hips. I think the fit is great and I didn't have to make any adjustments to the pattern. I seriously think I can make every view from this pattern and not get tired of it! I love all the sleeve options, contrasting bands, ties, and collar options available for this pattern.

For fabric, I used a cotton sateen that I've had in my stash for a couple months now. The florals are so pretty and the fabric feels amazing. It has a slight stretch in it also. (Cotton sateen fabric option here, here and here)

I went with the thin tie for my dress. Although I think its cute, I think it gets lost in the print. I should've went with View D or E tie. They are a little thicker than the one I made.

Overall I love my new wrap dress. Don't get upset or bored if you see a couple more dresses from this pattern coming up soon.....I REALLY need them in my closet! LOL!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Until next time.....

Blessings
