Black Pleated Skirt: McCalls 7906

Hey everybody! Hope you’re having a great day! I am so late blogging about this skirt y’all please forgive me! LOL! I was so focused on the Sew With Me video for the skirt, I literally forgot to write and show more pics of it! So allow me to fix that right now!

I was IN LOVE with McCalls 7906 as soon as I saw the collection! I always can find at least one or two MUST buy patterns for my style when new collections are released, and this one was it for McCalls Early Spring! I love everything about it! It sits 2” above the waist, the full pleats, the length, pockets….I LOVE!

For my skirt, I used a Cotton Sateen from my local Joann. I went back and forth on if I should go with black or another color, but ultimately decided on it because I only have one other black skirt that I’ve made in my closet! For size, I cut the 20 and because this is a full skirt, I didn’t need to adjust anything for the hips.

The only problem I have with my skirt (my fault not the pattern) are the buttonholes. I made the mistake of not moving them up a little and you can see that my tummy pokes the fabric out between the first and second button. I did get a suggestion from one of my viewers to sew a small snap there and I think I will do that! I just wanted to point that out, in case you want to try on your skirt and move your button placement around.

If you can make buttonholes, you can totally make this skirt! The instructions are well written and easy to follow, and I’ve even create a video to help walk you through it!

For styling, I kept things really simple. I originally was gonna pair it with a cute little sweater I found at Target but remembered I had this shirt (also from Target) and decided on it with my leopard shoes and belt.

Well, thats all for todays post! Thank you so much for stoping by! Until next time…

Blessings
