Black and Yellow Collection : Look 2 : Simplicity 8466 & McCalls 7726
Hey Friends! Happy Wednesday! Hope you're having a productive week so far! Monday I shared the first look of my black and yellow collection, so if you missed it you can check that out here! I'm so excited to talk about my second look, so lets just hop right into it!
Today I'm sharing Simplicity 8466 and McCalls 7726! Lets start with the Simplicity pattern first! This is a great turtleneck. It comes together really easy and its a good project for beginners that are comfortable with zippers. My favorite features for this top are the sleeves (of course) and the hem bands. I love hem bands, forget about sewing narrow hems, just sew on the band and go!! One thing I will say is, if you're not comfortable with midriff, be sure to lengthen your top. I did not lengthen mine so I'll always wear it with something high-waisted, or under something like overalls.
For size, I cut the 18 with no modifications. For fabric, I used this Mustard Liverpool Knit (fabric options here) from LaFinch Fabrics!
McCalls 7726 is the BOMB!! I absolutely love this pattern! Its so trendy with the paper bag waist and the leg options!! *insert all the heart eyes emojis* I had to get this pattern and make the wide leg view first! I would recommend this pattern for an intermediate sewer. Some of the features are front and back pleats, pockets, and a front fly zipper. I had a great time sewing this pattern! It gave me more practice with inserting fly zippers to prepare me for making my own jeans soon!
For size, I cut the size 20. I wish I would have went with the 18 because my fabric kind of gave a tad bit while wearing, plus I'm smaller in my waist so, I think the 18 would've been perfect. For fabric, I used a non stretch black twill from Hobby Lobby (fabric options here).
