the wrap dress: dvf vogue 2000

Hi friends! I hope you all are doing well! Today I am sharing my version of the iconic DVF wrap dress Vogue pattern V2000. I love a wrap anything. Give me a wrap top, dress, or skirt and I am a happy girl. This dress is an absolute winner and I’l excited to get into the details….

the details

Pattern Used: I used Vogue 2000 for the is dress.

Pattern Description: The iconic Vintage Vogue Patterns 1970's Front Wrap Dress by Diane von Furstenberg has been released from the pattern archives for the first time in honor of its 50th anniversary. Wear it your way by customizing the fabric, length, collar, cuffs, and where you tie it.

  • Front wrapped dress

  • Three inches below mid-knee or evening length

  • Fitted bodice, slightly gathered at front and tucked at back into waistline

  • Fit and flare skirt and attached tie ends that tie at side front or center back

  • Full-length sleeves have pointed cuffs with button trim

  • With or without pointed collar, topstitch trim

  • Authentic Vintage Reproduction includes additional size options and cutting layouts. (description from Simplicity website)

Pattern Sewing Level: This pattern is rated Easy.

What size did you cut?: I cut size 20 and made no adjustments to the pattern.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. Like I mentioned before, they are the original instructions so if you’ve never sewn a vintage pattern it will look a bit different from the current in print patterns so just know that. Other than that, the instructions are easy to follow.

What did you like or dislike about the pattern? I love this pattern. I don’t have any dislikes but I will say the cuffs aren’t really my style. Of course I added them to this dress because…hello it’s the DVF wrap dress lol but if I was to make it again, I’d omit the cuffs.

Did you make any pattern adjustments: I did not make any adjustments to the dress.

Where did you purchase the fabric(s)? I found this knit from Hobby Lobby.

Did you record a sew along for this pattern? I did not but Mimi G did and you can watch it here.

Would you sew it again? Maybe….I don’t know. I have a lot of wrap dress patterns in my stash so….maybe.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes. I think if you are a sewer/sewist, that loves to sew with commercial patterns, this is one to have and make at least once, or even just to own the pattern.

Well that is all for today friends. Thank you all so much for stopping by the my blog today! Until next time…

Blessings,
