Plaid Bow-tie Top: McCalls 7601
Hey everybody! Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a great start! I had a great weekend, that consisted of a lunch date with some girlfriends, going to a local festival, a little bit of sewing and a lot of football! It was perfect! LOL! Speaking of sewing, I am a little behind on blogging my makes so, I wanted to play a little catch up and kick this week off with my cute little bow-tie top I finished a couple weeks ago!
I’ve had McCalls 7601 in my stash for a while, but it wasn’t until I saw Emily Hallman white version that I said, “okay I need to make this ASAP!” LOL! I went with View A on the pattern and I cut a size 14. I really love this top, but I’m upset at the adjustments I made because now I can see that they weren’t necessary and really caused the top to pull around my bust!
I decided I would bring the front opening up because it was a little low for me, and I also wanted to bring the underarm seam up because I didn’t want any side boob happening. Now because I’d already cut for my EXACT size (14), doing all of these other adjustments, took out the room/movement I needed for the top to flow properly. Lesson learned!
For fabric, I used this beautiful Plaid Twill from Measure Fabrics. It was perfect for this top. I chat more about this fabric, in my latest Fabric Haul video.
I paired the top with my black denim Simplicity 8701 pants! Overall, I really love this pattern, the instructions are easy to follow and it comes together really quick! I know I’ll be revisiting this one again!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Until next time……
Blessings
