Black Corduroy Wrap Skirt : Simplicity 8459

Hey Friends! Happy Thursday! I hope you all are having a great week! I said in an insta-story last week that I got off to a really slow start this year! I was all over the place when it came to sewing. I think its because when the whole family is home, I get really lazy. LOL! But thankfully once the holiday breaks were over, I was able to focus and get a little sewing/planning done.

Today, I'm sharing my new wrap skirt! I loved Simplicity 8459 when it first came out. I actually purchased all the notions for it before I had fabric picked to make it! Speaking of fabric, I knew I wanted it to be in corduroy because its super popular right now. The corduroy I used was sent to me from Sewing Studio. (This shop has a beautiful story of continuing on the dream of the original owner to share and keep sewing alive and provide our community with great fashion fabrics!) They have a variety of colors in corduroy including high low wale! For color, I wanted it to be in a classic black because I need more staple pieces in my closet (and those I'll actually wear after taking photos).

I made View A of this pattern. I originally thought it was a tad too long, but I made this skirt to start building a church wardrobe so for that reason, I didn't shorten the length. It was really easy to construct and sew up. The hardest part was hand sewing the eyelet that the buckle goes through. I had to call on google, look up Youtube videos, and try to figure it out. Needless to say, I didn't get it! LOL! I need more practice with a blanket stitch, well ALL hand stitching to be honest! I ultimately did a zig-zag stitch all the way around the eyelet 3 times to secure it! What can I say, you do what you have to do!

The wrap front of the skirt is lined which I love. It gives it a nice clean finish around the edges. It has an invisible zipper in the center back with a waist facing. For size, I cut the 22 and made no adjustments! I wore it with my Georgia Turtleneck and Target heels. And don't judge me too harshly about the sleeves on my top! It fit perfectly after I made it, then I wore it, accidentally put it in the wash and ruined it!! But hey, I can always sew another, right!!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great rest of your week and I talk to you in the next post!

Blessings
